The 2002 Winter Olympic Games were celebrated in 2002 in and around Salt Lake City, Utah. Salt Lake City became the most populous area ever to have hosted a Winter Olympics and was also the most ecologically varied area to hold the Winter Olympics; a large hot and arid desert lies just to the west of Salt Lake City.
Salt Lake City's selection of fine restaurants is a good reason to stay downtown during your ski vacation. There are also some great night clubs and bars.
Salt Lake City International Airport is one of the West's major hubs and is served by 10 airlines offering over 700 scheduled flights per day. It is only ten minutes to downtown and within 1 hour to the ski resorts.
